JAMESVILLE, N.Y. – B&B Lumber, a long-standing custom pallet manufacturer in Jamesville, New York, experienced a significant fire on February 24th. The fire, which broke out around 7:30 p.m., required the efforts of firefighters from Jamesville and neighboring towns for over four hours.
Quick Response Prevents Total Loss
Thanks to the swift action of local fire departments, the blaze was brought under control by shortly after midnight. Fire crews remained on scene until 1 a.m. to prevent any reignition. While a storage building and some pallet inventory were lost, B&B Lumber has confirmed that its sawmill and the majority of its pallet assembly operations were spared.
B&B Lumber to be Fully Operational Soon
In a statement released on Facebook, a company representative stated, "While we did lose a storage building and some of our pallet inventory, our sawmill and most of our pallet assembly remain intact. We expect to be fully operational by Thursday, February 26." This quick recovery is welcome news for B&B Lumber's customers and employees.
No Injuries Reported
Fortunately, and most importantly, there were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation. This is not the first time B&B Lumber has faced such an incident; a similar fire occurred at the lumber company in March 2016.
